COVID Superhero 2020-21

Art Gallery of Ballarat, Victoria
19 February - 18 April 2021

Atta Gallery, Bangkok
26 November 2021 - 9 January 2022

During the global pandemic, I asked a crucial question: What would a COVID superhero look like? In response, I created ten ceramic superheroes, inspired by community input from Ballarat, where many imagined a hero embodying empathy, healing, and peace. These superheroes represent resilience, courage, and hope—traits needed to overcome the challenges of the pandemic. Drawing on my own lockdown experience, I wove personal reflections into each figure, making them symbols of the collective anxieties and aspirations of our time.

This project is a collaboration between the Art Gallery of Ballarat and the City of Ballarat’s Creative City team.

A similar project was also run in Bangkok at ATTA Gallery in 2021.
