Trophy 2018

Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne
9 - 13 April 2018

In April 2018, I conducted public drawing workshops at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), hosted by the Australian Sports Museum.

This collaborative project sought to explore the emotional and cultural significance of trophies. Visitors were encouraged to design trophies for family members, friends, pets, sports heroes, or other important figures in their lives. By breaking away from traditional trophy concepts, participants created a wide range of unique designs, each tied to a personal story.

Drawing inspiration from these workshops and the Melbourne Cricket Club Museum’s extensive collection of sporting awards, I created a series of sculptural trophies.

The 'Trophy' project, supported by philanthropist and sports enthusiast Basil Sellers AM as part of my Basil Sellers Creative Arts Fellowship, represents a profound exploration of the intersection between art and sports culture.
