How To Make A Million 2013
Edwina Corlette Gallery, Brisbane
9 – 27 July 2013
In the 18th and 19th centuries, European decorative arts were influenced by Orientalism, often borrowing techniques from Asia and the Middle East. In my work, I reverse this perspective by drawing inspiration from European ceramics to create porcelain figurines. I find artistic inspiration in iconic works such as St Sebastian, the Birth of Venus, and Meissen porcelain, even though these traditions are not part of my cultural background.
In How to Make a Million, I present a money-making scheme through a 12-step program, with each step depicted as a sculpture inspired by famous art. I invite viewers to explore the intricate details and uncover hidden clues within each piece.
