As a Thai-born Australian, I am keenly aware of cultural issues and the migration experience. This theme resonates in my work, particularly through the exploration of rabbits, which were introduced to Australia by early colonists to recreate a British-like environment. Although they appear cute, rabbits have been a destructive invasive species for over 150 years, causing damage to crops, soil erosion, and threatening native wildlife.
In this series, I’ve created a porcelain kingdom inhabited by sculptural creatures that convey poetic messages about the human condition and environmental concerns, blending whimsy and humour with thoughtful commentary on the impact of settlement.
