Red-eared Slider / เต่าเเก้มเเดง
2016
SAC Gallery, Bangkok
20 - 30 Apr 2016
The work explores the environmental impact of invasive species on waterways, focusing on the red-eared slider turtle, native to the U.S. but feral in countries like Thailand and Australia. Introduced to Thailand by Japanese traders, the red-eared slider threatens native freshwater turtles by competing for resources and spreading diseases to which indigenous species have no immunity.
I use the red-eared slider as a symbol of human disregard for the environment. My sculptures, intentionally mute, communicate through body language and decoration, reflecting my cultural identity and the delicate balance between nature and human influence.
