Collective Reef 2015

Shepperton Art Museum, Victoria
8 August - 31 October 2015

'Collective Reef' brings attention to the devastating effects of human consumerism and climate change on coral reefs.

I invited online communities to send white and blue trash to my studio—colors rich with cultural and symbolic meaning that transcend borders and are deeply connected to the history of ceramics and my art practice.

These discarded plastic items were transformed into coral sculptures, representing the unsettling reality of coral forced to coexist with human waste. Displayed in petri dishes, the sculptures evoke a future where coral may be lab-grown, raising urgent questions about the fate of our natural ecosystems.
