In Eleganza Extravaganza Cats, I explore Thai folklore through a queer lens, drawing inspiration from Chaiyachet of the Rama II era. Central to this exploration is Nang Maew, a character that challenges traditional gender norms. Though portrayed as a female cat, Nang Maew is played by a male actor, embracing flamboyance, theatricality, and exuberance. This adds complexity to the character while offering a thoughtful commentary on gender diversity and performance.

Eleganza Extravaganza Cats celebrates queer visibility, examining how queer elements appear in classic Thai literature, intentionally or not. The exhibition features flamboyant sculptures that command attention and challenge convention.
