An Important Exhibition of Australian Ceramics curated by Prue Venables will be on at Mossgreen Gallery, Melbourne. it is a tribute to the late Janet Mansfield OAM (1934–2013), “This exhibition displays work of great innovation and substance from across the broad sphere of Australian Ceramics. All has been influenced by Janet Mansfield and her legacy."
I am so honour to be part of this show. Janet inspired me to do what I do now – connect people together. She is a great teacher, not by teaching but by doing. There's still a lot more to learn from her, like how to travel light but still look elegant. I wish I could still spend time with her in Gulgong … and so I hold my phone which shows the website I made for her! I miss her.
This is my piece in the show "Butterfly".
"Here, hints of the flamboyant floral work of eighteenth century European porcelain factories can be seen reflected by the layering of a surface with delicate tumbling butterflies. Made within the Thai Celadon Factory, Changmai, Northern Thailand, these extraordinary pieces were inspired by a Thai proverb "To cover one whole dead elephant with a lotus leaf" and make reference to the exposure of political corruption in Thai politics and the Coup that was taking place at the time." - Prue Venables
